A British military Hawk T2 jet crashed Wednesday in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey in northwest Wales after both pilots ejected from the aircraft, according to the Royal Air Force and North Wales Police. The aircraft was operating from RAF Valley, a major training base on Anglesey.

Witness video showed the two pilots ejecting from the aircraft shortly before the jet descended toward the ground near homes. A large fireball and thick black smoke were reported at the crash site as emergency crews responded.

Both pilots were located following the crash and taken for medical treatment. The RAF said their families are being supported, and there were no immediate reports of other injuries or significant damage caused by the crash.

The RAF has temporarily paused operations involving its Hawk T1 and T2 aircraft as a precaution while investigators examine the incident. The service said the cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The Hawk T2 is used by the RAF for advanced pilot training. RAF Valley is home to the service's fast-jet training operations, where pilots prepare for assignments involving aircraft such as the Typhoon.

Emergency services established a response around the crash site as officials began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have not indicated that anyone on the ground was injured.
