Kimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation as U.S. ambassador to Greece, ending her tenure amid allegations of improper conduct that drew scrutiny from the Trump administration.
In a statement confirming her departure, Guilfoyle called her ambassadorship “the honor of a lifetime” and thanked President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for appointing her to represent the United States.
Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime. I will forever be grateful to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of…

Guilfoyle said her tenure focused on advancing Trump’s America First agenda, strengthening the U.S. alliance with Greece and expanding American economic and security interests across Southeast Europe.
She highlighted efforts to expand American liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, advance the Vertical Corridor energy initiative to reduce European dependence on Russian supplies, strengthen defense cooperation with Greece and create additional opportunities for American businesses and investors.
“These accomplishments are a testament to President Trump’s bold leadership, Secretary Rubio’s commitment to American diplomacy, and the extraordinary men and women who serve our country every day,” Guilfoyle said.
Her resignation follows reports alleging questionable conduct before and during her ambassadorship, including claims involving gifts, services and a request for financial assistance from Trump donor Eric Deters. One report alleged that Guilfoyle asked Deters to wire $100,000 to cover an American Express bill days before her Senate confirmation hearing.
Guilfoyle rejected the allegations in her resignation statement, declaring them false and vowing to defend her reputation.
“I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service,” she said.
Her attorneys previously denied wrongdoing and maintained that money she sought from Deters represented unpaid compensation for public appearances and speaking engagements arranged before her ambassadorial nomination.
Guilfoyle also emphasized that her departure would not diminish her support for Trump or his political movement. She said her gratitude toward the president and Rubio remained unchanged and pledged continued loyalty to the America First agenda.
“While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she said.
Guilfoyle concluded by thanking the diplomatic and military personnel serving the United States and offering a patriotic message of support for the president and the country.
Her departure follows a period of growing scrutiny over the allegations, although Guilfoyle maintains that she did nothing wrong.
