President Donald Trump is expected to host Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at a White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sept. 24. Altman's attendance has been confirmed, while Cook, Amon and Huang are also expected to attend, according to reports.

The dinner comes as Trump and Xi prepare for a high-level summit covering trade, technology, artificial intelligence and other areas of U.S.-China relations. Trump has described his relationship with Xi as strong while emphasizing that China remains a major economic and technological competitor to the United States.

AI is expected to be an important issue during the summit as Washington and Beijing compete for leadership in advanced artificial intelligence. The two countries are also negotiating over technology restrictions, trade and access to critical materials.

Altman has previously supported international discussions over safeguards and standards for advanced AI development. Huang, meanwhile, has advocated for continued access to the Chinese market for Nvidia's advanced chips, making the presence of both executives notable as the administration weighs technology policy toward Beijing.

A White House official said Trump invited leading American business executives because the president “will always prioritize making good deals for our country.” The dinner will follow Trump's May meeting with Xi in Beijing, where Trump invited the Chinese leader to visit Washington.

Xi's visit comes as U.S.-China relations remain strained over tariffs, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, Taiwan and other strategic issues. Chinese officials are also expected to bring a delegation of major Chinese business executives, although that guest list remains subject to change.
