The Vanderbilt Commodores pulled off a stunning 35-31 comeback victory over the North Carolina State Wolfpack after a bizarre final play gave the home team the winning touchdown.

NC State led 31-28 with seconds remaining and appeared ready to run out the clock after intercepting Vanderbilt quarterback Jared Curtis near the goal line. Instead of punting, the Wolfpack had quarterback C.J. Bailey take the snap in his own end zone and run down the clock.

As Vanderbilt defenders closed in, Bailey attempted to avoid the rush, but Vanderbilt defensive lineman Miles Capers forced a fumble. Cayden Daniels recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown with one second remaining, giving Vanderbilt its first lead of the game and the 35-31 victory.

Vanderbilt had trailed by as many as 17 points before mounting its comeback. Curtis, making his first career start, finished with 277 passing yards and three touchdowns, while the Commodores improved to 3-0 heading into SEC play.

NC State falls to 1-2 after the heartbreaking loss.
