The Buffalo Bills defeated the Detroit Lions 41-31 Thursday night in the first game at the newly opened Highmark Stadium, improving to 2-0 on the season while handing Detroit its first loss.

Allen led Buffalo's offense with three touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns, completing 20 of 31 passes for 248 yards while adding 69 yards on the ground. The Bills scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and built a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Detroit fought back behind Jared Goff, who finished with 327 passing yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught nine passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while Jahmyr Gibbs contributed 113 total yards and a touchdown.

The Lions cut Buffalo's lead to 34-24 early in the fourth quarter, but the Bills responded with a long scoring drive capped by James Cook's 1-yard touchdown run. Detroit added a late touchdown from Goff to St. Brown, but Buffalo closed out the 41-31 victory.

Cook finished with 135 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, while Dalton Kincaid added seven receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Buffalo finished with 446 total yards, including 203 rushing, compared with 355 total yards for Detroit.

The victory also gave Joe Brady a 2-0 start in his first season as Buffalo's head coach. Detroit will next face the New York Jets on Sept. 27.
